Is a Yoga Teacher Training Course suitable for me?
Please don’t think that your yoga practice isn’t ‘good enough.’ There’s no prerequisite for asana ability, body shape or Instagram followers.
All we ask is that you have at least two years of yoga experience.
Newcastle Yoga School only has a small number of students per intake. To apply for a place on the Yoga Teacher Training Course, you must first participate in a friendly telephone interview to see if the course is the right fit.
What will I learn?
Our Yoga Teacher Training Course focuses on asana, as well as the mental and spiritual aspects of yoga.
The course is split into seven modules. Some of these modules run alongside each other as they share content and incorporate similar themes.

The Modules

Yoga Philosophy and living your yoga off the mat
During this module, we explore how the eight limbs of yoga relate to our daily lives and teaching practice. We also study ancient yogic texts and examine their relevance today. You will interweave these teachings into your everyday actions, acknowledging that yoga is an integral aspect of your life rather than something you do on a mat.
Self-practice and study
Creating a home yoga practice that you can maintain after you graduate is essential. During the course, we set various assignments and further reading tasks to complete between workshops, that will help you develop a home study practice and inquiry.

Anatomy and physiology
This module will give you a strong foundation of knowledge about what is happening in the body during asana. We will look at how a healthy body supports itself and explore common muscle imbalances and weaknesses and how to restore them.
Asana
The asana module will explore all the main asana groups. We teach you how to cue each group safely and effectively, what potential errors to look for in a pose and how to modify poses for students of varying abilities. You will also learn how to sequence a class in a safe and fun way.

Running a yoga business
As a business owner, having proficiency in marketing is a key skill. This module focuses on how to align your marketing strategy with the yogic principles. You will learn how to create a website and manage the records you need to keep as a teacher. We will also examine how to teach classes in a sustainable way that works for you so that you keep your passion for yoga alive.
Teaching skills
This module will help you become an effective communicator and understand the other core skills you need to facilitate a yoga class. We look at the ethics of teaching too, and the responsibility of care you have when helping others heal and grow. Our graduates are safe and confident teachers, creating vibrant classes that people want to return to again and again.

Teaching yoga online [NEW]
The yoga industry has changed, with many yoga teachers now teaching classes online. Teaching to an online audience, however, is different from teaching in a studio. In this new module, we cover aspects of communication, technology, ethics and the legalities of teaching yoga online.

Testimonials
From the beginning we were encouraged to take steps to build our confidence as teachers, and to explore the other eight limbs of yoga and how these apply to our lives, our practice, and our future teaching. I’m so pleased I signed up.

Wow. Investing in this course was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I’ve loved every second of this training & would do it all over again in a heart beat if I could. The quality of this course is second to none, the teaching, the content, all of it was amazing!
